Danny's and Joan's Whirlwind Bowling Tournaments

What a trip! We are both exhausted and I didn't even bowl. Too much at one time. Flew out of Chattanooga on the 11th of June and spent the weekend with my son and his family in Reno. Good to see him and the Grandkids. It's been four years. The three hour time difference was taking its toll on us. On Monday Danny bowled doubles and singles. Supposed to start at 8:30 PM but everything was running behind. That was six games and we didn't leave until 1:30 AM to go back to the hotel. Most wanted to eat but we were too tired. Next day he bowled team event which was a bit earlier. He won some money in the brackets but nothing else. This National Event runs for 6 months and they have approximately 14,000 teams participating from all over the country and run it pretty much non-stop until it is over. He has won some money in years past at this event but no one on his team did very well this year. They know they are not in the running for anything as the best scores so far are posted in the Bowling Stadium. There's no regular bowling done there. It is for tournaments. We left Wednesday morning to come home to TN. Left at 6 AM Nevada time and arrived at 4 PM TN time in Chattanooga. Then had to drive home to Kingsport. One day at home to snuggle with the cat, Jasmine. She does very well with the Pet Sitter, Holly. She is a very sweet and even tempered feline. Holly knows her schedule and keeps her to it so her routine doesn't vary. Jasmine spends the nights alone in the house and Lord only knows what she does. She sleeps most of the night through when we are here so must assume she does the same when we're gone. Only difference is she has no one's head to snuggle up to on the pillow.

On Friday morning at 4 AM we left in the truck to drive to Lakeland, FL for the FL State Bowling Tournament. We hit Orlando at Rush Hour and spent the better part of an hour and a half getting across I 4. Florida is hot in June. Hot & Humid!

Whoever planned these events didn't give a whole lot of consideration to the bowlers . Well, we got there and the rest of his team had waited for us to go to dinner. We had a wonderful seafood dinner at a local restaurant and the food was excellent. Gulf Oil spill hasn't affected the seafood supply yet. Then Saturday they bowled doubles and singles and Suinday they bowled team. It was Father's Day. Danny and his partner in the Doubles event did very well and think they have placed high enough to get some money. Only another week or so left for the State tournament. Danny's daughter, Cindy came by the bowling alley to see him and give him a big hug and kiss. What a sweet girl. (woman, actually. She's in her forties) We left the bowling alley and headed straight for TN. We stopped just before dark in a little town just north of Brunswick, GA and ate and slept. Made it home on Monday afternoon about 1 PM. Unloaded and crashed. This was just a little more adventure and travel than either of us is up to. Poor Danny had to go out Tuesday afternoon and bowl with his team at Warrior's Path Bowling Alley. He wasn't really looking forward to it. I got to sit at the computer and catch up on all the emails and online banking left unattended during all of this.

Danny has been called for jury duty during the month of June. They let him go for bowling but he reports back on the 28th. So far he hasn't been selected as a juror. This is the first time he has ever been called. I served many times in FL. Well, that's our story and we're sticking to it. See you all in July. God willing and the creek don't rise.
