Elaine B. Gousy 1935-2009 WILBRAHAM, MA - Elaine B. (Welts) Gousy, 74, and formerly of Cabinet Street Springfield died Thursday October 1, 2009, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her family in Mercy Medical Center, Springfield. Elaine, a daughter of the late Alston and Elizabeth (Hodgdon) Welts was born in Parkman, Maine on September 26, 1935 and graduated from Piscataquis High School. Elaine has resided in Springfield most of her life. An avid hard worker, Elaine, owned a restaurant in Eliot, ME and a Dairy Mart in East Longmeadow. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother. She enjoyed being with her family, gardening, traveling cross country with her husband Herve in their motor home, and was a member of the Over Mountain Sam's in Tennessee. Elaine is survived by her husband of 50 years, Herve H. Gousy; two sons, David A. Soucie and his wife Karen of Ashfield and John H. Gousy and his wife Tracy of Monson; three daughters, Wanda Soucie-Murphy and her husband Michael of Dallas, TX, Brenda Ann Gonyea and her husband Joel of Wilbraham, and Barbara Williams and her husband Mark of Alpharetta, GA; a brother, Roger Welts of Greenville, ME; two sisters, Ann Donovan and her husband Richard of Belfast, ME and Jean Durham of Belfast, ME; twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren; along with many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours for Elaine will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009 from 3 to 5 p.m. at Sampson's Chapel of the Acres Funeral Home, 21 Tinkham Road, Springfield. A funeral home service with be held on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
